Types of Concrete Beam and their Reinforcement Details

Beam signifies a bracing that offers reinforcements to stand the transverse load that usually builds upon the supports on its point. Girder is the beam parcel and component that offers robust supports to single or additional smaller beam.

Beams are classified as continuous beam, semi-continuous beam and simple beam.

Simple Beam: That sort of beam comprises one span that offers supports on its end without a constraint on the support. Simple beam is also called simply supported beam. Constraint indicates a rigid association or anchorage on the support.

Continuous Beam: That sort of beam counts on more than two supports.

Semi-Continuous Beam: Such sort of beam comprises two lengths/spans with or with no constraint on the two distant ends.

Cantilever Beam: Such sort of beam is placed at one point and another end marks over the wall or support.

T – Beam: In case floor slabs and beams are discharged at once for growing a monolithic structure wherein the component of the slab on the two sides of the beam acts as T-Beam flanges. The beam that is located beneath the slab acts as the web component and is generally designated as stem.

A beam is a structural component that mostly opposes loads implemented sideways to the beam's axis. Its deflection mode is mainly through bending. The loads implemented to the beam lead to reaction forces on the beam's supports. The overall outcome of every force influencing the beam is to create shear forces and bending moments inside the beam, that in sequence influence beam interior stresses, strains and deflections.

Beams are described through their way of support, outline (sample shape), measurement lengthwise, and their material.

Beams are conventionally depictions of civil engineering or building structural components, although any structures for instance aircraft components, machine frames, automotive automobile frames, and additional structural or mechanical systems include beam structures that are created to bear lateral loads are studied in an identical way.

Sorts of Beam on the basis of form:

  • T Beam
  • L Beam

On the basis of support state

  • Simply supported beam
  • Fixed beam
  • Cantilever beam
  • Continuous beam

On the basis of reinforcement

  • Singly reinforced beam
  • Longitudinal Reinforcement is offered in the tension part only.

It opposes tensile stresses because of shear and bending in beams.
